Von Roll

Von Roll is one of Switzerland’s longest-established industrial companies, which focuses on products and systems for electrical power generation, power transmission and industrial applications.

Challenge

The Client sent us the RFI (Request for Information) because they were considering relocation of some of the competencies from the HQ in Switzerland to another country.

On the shortlist they had Poland, Ukraine and Turkey. They were taking into consideration many factors such as the pool of the candidates, salaries, taxes, time to market, labor law etc.

They decided to meet with three vendors in each of these three countries. After the meetings, they have made a decision to interview IT Specialists from Poland from two vendors.

The problem that they were facing was the shortage of highly qualified IT specialists on the local market. Our Client asked us to find the following Specialists:

  • IT System and Cloud Administrator/Engineer

  • IT Network and Phone Engineer

  • Power BI

  • SAP FI/CO Specialist

  • SAP SD Specialist

  • IT Service Desk Agent

Apart from paying special attention to the technical competencies and soft skills, Von Roll was looking for team members focused on long-term cooperation, who could identify with the company’s values, and those who have high motivation to improve things, not just to administrate the current status.

Solution

Our discussions about possible cooperation happened in July 2020. After consideration, the Client has decided to choose one city - Warsaw. The project officially started in mid-August and lasted until the end of September 2020.

As an IT recruitment agency and outsourcing company, we offered comprehensive services and coordinated all activities locally. Not only did we help with finding the best candidates, but also shared our knowledge of the Polish labor market and helped with choosing the best office location.

Despite the fact that we were looking for highly qualified candidates, we managed to present a few for each role. Altogether, we invited 19 people for job interviews.

The Client wanted to get to know the candidates well, as the cooperation was planned to last for at least a few years. The recruitment process consisted of 2 face-to-face interviews for which the Client was flying over to Poland.

The meetings were smoothly coordinated and took place in our office in Warsaw. There were days when the Client’s calendar was fully booked and he had conversations with several candidates that happened one after another. This has led to making the process go quickly and efficiently, as the feedback was shared with us immediately after the conversations with the candidates.

Results

In the end, there were three major factors that were on the top of the list of arguments that convinced the Client to open a competence center in Poland:

  • vast pool of candidates

  • affordable cost

  • the simplicity of settlement (one invoice for all services - people, office, administration etc.)

Currently, we have 6 people on board who are providing services for Von Roll.
