New Reporting Data 2025: IT Market Trends [REPORT]

The IT recruitment agency, Next Technology Professionals, has prepared the 4th edition of its report on the IT job market in Poland, titled IT job market in Poland in 2025. Salaries and Recruitment Trends Based on the opinions of 811 IT specialists, their new report reveals actual salaries in the IT industry and the latest recruitment trends in the sector.

To systematize the data, the following classification was chosen to define the level of experience (both in the survey and in the report):

  • Trainee – currently in an internship
  • Junior – up to 2 years of experience
  • Mid – 2 to 4 years of experience
  • Senior – 4 to 10 years of experience
  • Expert – more than 10 years of experience

73% of IT specialists are open to changing jobs

Satisfaction with received salaries is shown in the chart below. IT specialists are less open to changing jobs than in 2023 (77%). Moreover, as many as 48% of respondents are willing to change jobs if they receive an interesting offer.

The frequency of job changes remained almost unchanged

In 2024, the majority of IT specialists (73%) did not change employers, and the percentage of those switching jobs has been gradually decreasing. In 2022, 36% of IT specialists changed jobs, while in 2023, this number dropped to 28%.

Despite overall job satisfaction among employees, the main reasons for changing jobs have remained largely unchanged. The top three reasons were: “inadequate salary” (40%), “lack of growth opportunities” (31%), and “unsatisfactory projects” (23%). Also ranking were “desire for change” (22%) and “lack of promotion opportunities” (16%).

More IT specialists would like to be paid in PLN (60%) than in 2023

In 2024, 25% of IT specialists preferred to be paid in EUR, but only 3% actually received their salary in that currency. EUR is much less popular as a salary currency, despite remaining the second most preferred currency. The interest in the Polish currency may stem from the increased stability of the local currency or the convenience of settlements in PLN.

According to 38% of respondents, remote work increases productivity

The majority of respondents believe that the impact of remote work on productivity depends on the individual employee, with 58% emphasizing this factor. However, a significant portion of IT experts think that remote work increases productivity, as 38% of respondents stated that it improves efficiency, while only 3% said it decreases it.

Do job change methods depend on experience level?

As IT specialists gain experience, their job search methods also change. Juniors (53%) and Mids (60%) most often apply on their own, while Seniors (30%) and Experts (31%) are less likely to use this approach.

Among more experienced IT professionals, the role of agency recruiters (25% of Seniors and Experts) and referrals from friends (21% of Seniors, 25% of Experts) is increasing. Additionally, internal recruiters and the “Careers” page are becoming more significant for Seniors and Experts.

Most of IT specialists still choose remote or hybrid work (98%)

53% of IT professionals prefer fully remote work, 45% hybrid work, and only 2% prefer 100% on-site work. Remote work is a highly desired option by respondents (and was also indicated as the most important benefit).

The majority of IT specialists (85%) have not been obliged by their employers to return to the office

As in 2023, the majority of IT specialists did not receive a requirement to return to the office (85%), with only 15% of respondents experiencing an increase in the number of office workdays. When asked, “If your employer reduces the amount of remote work, would you consider changing jobs?”, 86% of respondents stated that they would consider changing jobs in that case.

The level of salary satisfaction decreased in almost all groups

Compared to 2023, our report shows a decline in salary satisfaction among juniors (down by 18 percentage points), mids (down by 20 percentage points), and seniors (down by 13 percentage points). Only among experts is there an increase in satisfaction, rising by 2 percentage points.

In 2024, IT specialists received salary increases less often than in 2023

This may indicate a more challenging market situation. The least frequent salary increases in 2024 were received by Seniors (19%) and Experts (20%). Among Seniors, there was a decrease of 33 percentage points, and among Experts, a decrease of 24 percentage points. The decline was slightly smaller among Mids (down by 6 percentage points) and Juniors (down by 12 percentage points).Regarding bonuses, discretionary bonuses were the most commonly awarded (57%), with their value not depending on the achievement of specific goals. Performance-based bonuses were also popular (44%, compared to 36% in 2023), directly linked to the achievement of particular results. Additionally, 4% of respondents mentioned other types of bonuses.

IT specialists employed on B2B and employment contracts (EoC) expect an average salary increase of 27% when changing jobs. Their expectations have risen by 5 percentage points compared to 2023. The highest expectations (37%) for an increase in their current salary are held by individuals with more than 4 years of experience (Mid level), working under UoP. In 2023, these expectations were highest among Experts (individuals with over 10 years of experience) at 30% on B2B.

Recruitment processes have become slightly longer (by 7 percentage points compared to 2023)

IT specialists would prefer to participate less often in 3-stage or longer recruitment processes. 65% of IT specialists prefer a 2-stage recruitment process, and this number of stages is also the most common in terms of the declared actual number of stages in the recruitment process. Less than half of IT specialists (44%, a decrease of 6 percentage points) joined their current company after just two stages of recruitment.

According to IT specialists, the most preferred methods of competency verification are technical interviews (81%), HR/business interviews (48%), and remote tasks/homework (32%).

Benefits in IT: remote work, flexible time and a medical package at the forefront

Remote work is now a key benefit in IT, with 88% of respondents indicating it, which marks a 10 percentage point increase year over year. Among the desired benefits, respondents also mentioned: flexible working hours (56%, a decrease of 8 percentage points), medical package (37%), and a 4-day workweek (29%). Professional training (27%) also ranked highly, indicating the need for continuous employee development and dedicating more time to deepening knowledge and enhancing skills.
