Over the last few years, some changes have been noticeable in the IT industry, not only in terms of salaries, but also the stability of employment of programmers. Last year, the news was dominated by fewer job offers and waves of layoffs in IT. Have these situations had an impact on fluctuating salary levels for specific job positions? We will try to answer this question by referring to data from the report “Prepare for the IT recruitment process in 2024 – IT job market in Poland“.

In this article, we will look at the salaries of Polish IT specialists based on 2023 data.

In the IT job market, the role of recruitment agencies in recruiting IT specialists is crucial. Their specialized knowledge allows them to find the most suitable candidates quickly. It is particularly important in searching for IT employees at the Mid, Senior and Expert levels. Research carried out by some agencies means that they know how they can improve the process (e.g. in the context of the number of stages, proposed benefits, preferences regarding technical verification of the candidate, etc.). Report on salaries in the IT industry in Poland

At the beginning of 2024, we published the 3rd edition of the report “Prepare for the IT recruitment process in 2024 – IT job market in Poland“. During September and November 2023, using an online survey, we collected responses from 922 IT specialists and analyzed 130,000 job offers from the IT sector (data obtained from itradar.io [an aggregator of advertisements from the 4 most popular portals: Pracuj.pl, No Fluff Jobs, Bulldogjob and Just Join IT]). Based on the data obtained, we have created lists of experience and salary ranges, which include the salaries received by selected IT specialists on the Polish labor market.

To systematize the data and determine the seniority level (both in the survey and in the report itself), the following division was decided:

  • Trainee – currently on an internship
  • Junior – up to 2 years of experience
  • Mid – 2 – 4 years of experience
  • Senior – 4 – 10 years of experience
  • Expert – more than 10 years of experience

Based on the collected data, it appears that a Frontend Developer on a B2B contract, depending on experience, may receive an average salary of 8,123 PLN – 30,100 PLN. In turn, regarding the Employment Contract, the range is 6,900 PLN – 25,000 PLN.

Based on the collected data, it appears that a Mobile Developer on a B2B contract, depending on experience, may receive an average salary of 8,300 PLN – 26,995 PLN. In turn, under the Employment Contract, it is in the range of 7,115 PLN – 22,250 PLN.

Based on the collected data, it appears that a DevOps Engineer on a B2B contract, depending on experience, may receive an average salary of 9,500 PLN – 33,863 PLN. In turn, under the Employment Contract, it is in the range of 7,543 PLN – 26,400 PLN.

What were the salary ranges in job offers published for DevOps Engineer in 2023? Regarding the Junior level (8,059 PLN – 11,780 PLN), Mid (16,493 PLN – 23,629 PLN), Senior (21,928 PLN – 30,764 PLN). Information about the Expert level can be found in the report.

How much does a QA Engineer in Poland earn?

Salaries received in IT - QA Engineer

Based on the collected data, it appears that a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer on a B2B contract, depending on experience, may receive an average salary of 8,400 PLN – 23,559 PLN. In turn, in the Employment Contract it is in the range of 6,036 PLN – 20,506 PLN.

The salary range for published job offers was as follows: For the Junior level (6,504 PLN – 9,587 PLN), Mid (11,970 PLN – 17,906 PLN), Senior (17,334 PLN – 23,848 PLN). Information about the Expert level can be found in the report.

Pay raises and bonuses in IT

According to the respondents’ answers, the percentage of people who received a raise among IT specialists in 2023 decreased compared to 2022. This was particularly felt by Seniors: where the decrease was 2 percentage points. and Juniors: for these, an increase of 4 p.p. No changes were noted among the Mids. Last year it was also reported that more than half (51%) of IT specialists are ready to change their current job if they receive an interesting offer, while when changing jobs they expect a raise of 22% on average.
